From my university days I have 3 164SX and 1 154LX systems. All are in large tower cases with ECC memory, an Adaptec 2940 SCSI card, SCSI HDD and SCSI CD-ROM. API Networks CS20 Bad Memory or ROM

Hi,
After my API Networks CS20 was sitting on my shelf unplugged for a couple years, I turned it on a couple days ago and received the following output on my serial console:

I tried moving the eight RAM modules around (2GB installed) to different slots, removing all of them completely, putting a jumper across pins 1 and 2 on J2, replacing the 3V battery, but the bad memory message still appears. Typing a carriage return after that message above drops me to the SROM mini-debugger:... more »

WTD: UP1500 or UP2000+ motherboard

Looking for a Samsung UP1500 or an API UP2000+ alpha motherboard (both are PC/ATX form factor). Needs to be working and priced realistically (12 years old). Will also consider entire system based on these motherboards. I'm located in Portland, Oregon. Appreciate reply via e-mail. Thanks!

Alpha XLT, MILO and PCI IDE

Hi! I'm trying to install Linux on the old Alpha XLT 300 machine. Unfortunately, I have only old small 0.5Gb SCSI disk (wondered how difficult to find 50-pin SCSI now). My plan is to use SCSI disk as boot-only device to store MILO and to use a PCI IDE controller with rather modern and large HDD (about 20-40Gb) for Linux.... more »
