Subject: Building KDE for alpha
I want to get KDE to work on my Alpha, and I was wondering what was
involved, I heard many people were talking about having to install Qt and
then rebuild KDE, I wouldn't mind doing this but I want to find out if there
is some documentation that goes along with it, and would explain what I
should do so I don't go and screw up a nice Alpha.  Thanks.

It's not to bad actually. I think you need QT1.42 (at least that's what
I have). Build that first, then build the KDE stuff in the order they
specify.
You didn't mention which distro you're running. I know for RH5.2 this works
out of the box. Before that I think you need to update your binutils for
QT to work, I believe it compiles but then is useless.

Easy as pie, they have rpms for the whole thing.  Just go to
ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/1.1pre1/distribution/RedHat-5.1/alpha/

1.1pre1 work great. When I was checking the path above I noticed that
they were setting up the directory structure for 1.1pre2, so you might
be able to grab those instead.

here you can find the rpms plus a howto for KDE for Alpha, but it is still just
based on qt1.33.
Worth a trial. Hope it helps. It is the site of a german Alpha vendor. Just no
link from the main pages, you have to enter the directory kde manually, or klick
the following
