I am trying to install red hat 5.2 on my dec alphastation 200 4/233 and I
keep having the same problem. I made the three disks as I was told to do, but
when I get to the milo prompt, no matter what line I type, it keeps giving me
the same fatal error, saying that its out of memory. Please help....is there
a work around??? My AS has 16 megs of ram and it only needs 8 to install red
hat....What am I doing wrong??? Thanks in Advance, Nick Pennella

Shoot, just saw something on this last week. If I remember correctly,
the kernel for RedHat was built expecting 32MB of RAM. Anyway, you need
to pass it "append mem=16M" at boot time, but I can't remember the exact
syntax to do that. Somebody else remember? Am I totally off base here?

I encountered the same problems with the install of RedHat 5.2 on my
noname board. I'd found out that if you use the milo and the boot.img
files from RedHat 5.1 and the ramdisk.img from RedHat 5.2 the install
from Redhat gifs no problem with the memory.

You need 32 for the RH 5.2 installer to go. This one caught me up too.
Once I upped the memory to 32 things went (reasonably) well. I have to
say though, in all honesty, X is more responsive on my P90 with 40 megs
of ram than it is on my AS200 4/233 with 96MB.
