The battle between Oracle and Google, for example.

Then there's the battle between Microsoft and tens of thousands of other
companies, organisations and people over the past 36 years, from Gary
Kildall, Altair, DR-DOS, OS/2 Warp, BeOS, and Stac Electronics, right up
to the present day with i4i, Barnes & Noble, Salesforce, foxconn,
inventec and Motorola.

One little diagram ain't gonna cut it, I'm afraid. You'd need something
the size of the Doomsday Book.

Yup. Most folks' view of software/computing history is SO short.

...and it really is too bad that "Gary went flying";
it would have been interesting to see how that played out.
