Should blind people get free cars too Roy? Or maybe free houses? Tell
me, where does your generosity end? What about people with one
leg. Should they get everything for free too?

But wait! Lets read the article ....

,----

| This, then, is the reality of "modern" copyright: it fails to serve huge
| numbers of people, many of whom are already suffering from
| discrimination in other ways.

`----

Uh oh! But its nothing to do with the copyright per se : the publishers
just dont see enough of a market. If you'll excuse the pun.

But lets say for the sake of argument they DO release all this material
"free of charge" so that they can be re formatted for the visually
impaired. Who is going to do it? You? No? Didn't think so. Who will
ensure the world's freetards don't steal it?

You're an idiot Roy.

What about people who are too stupid to get a good job. You for example
Roy. Should you be offered everything for free too since you can't
afford to pay for it?

Where foes you largesse for giving other peoples work away end Roy?

And here we have it again: Hadron Snot Quark will deny to the blind even
those scarce books / magazines too. After all, who pays for them? Such a
small market. No worth bothering with.

And to hell with sympathy and charity for those who are already suffering.
If they can't pay for it, they are worthless.

This is, in short terms, the worthless asshole Hadron Quark.

Did you know, you crimnally stupid POS, that for example the german weekly
magazine "Der Stern" is distributing braille-versions for the blind *free*
*of* *charge* to blind people?
Do they get ripped off because of that by "freetards"? Try to think (I
know you can't, but try anyway) why this is not the case

No one is getting anything they haven't paid for.

No one is arguing that some class of people should.

And not only that, "Hadron" viciously insults Roy over the post. If you
care to read "Hadron"'s writing in that post, it is almost shocking how much
it drips of bile and anger.

"Hadron" has a serious screw loose.

In the US, at least, the Blind are not scorned. See 17 USC 121:

Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106 [17 USC 106], it is
not an infringement of copyright for an authorized entity to
reproduce or to distribute copies or phonorecords of a previously
published, nondramatic literary work if such copies or phonorecords
are reproduced or distributed in specialized formats exclusively for
use by blind or other persons with disabilities.

It defines "authorized entity" thus:

"authorized entity" means a nonprofit organization or a governmental
agency that has a primary mission to provide specialized services
relating to training, education, or adaptive reading or information
access needs of blind or other persons with disabilities;

Don't be so utterly ridiculous - I used and advocated Linux - I was
ridiculed and attacked.

I reviewed Linux - I was ridiculed and attacked here and elsewhere,
even receiving death threats eminating directly from this newsgroup,
as references were made to posting I have made here.

I was not pushed to use any OS - I do not care what I use as long as
it gets the job done.

Your email address in your headers just about sums the Linux world up.
Nothing to do with the OS, it is the *uckwits involved in the whole
arena and have posted before on this. If in doubt, deride, insult and
attack. Look inwardly carefully before judging me.

No, it sums Snot Michael Glasser up (if it is his galloping insanity
header). MIchael Glasser is also the most dishonest poster ever on usenet.
And he is a Mac user. He kknows precious little about linux

Did you actually read what i said?

Do you think everything should be for free?

Or do you mean than Windows had better access ability features?

Would you like to address the practicalities of who will transcribe all

That's because you probably said something bad about Linux, no matter how
true. Like for example, Linux doesn't have a consistent UI. That's all it
takes for the Linux Mafia to come and harass you.

> I reviewed Linux - I was ridiculed and attacked here and elsewhere,

Never use your real name when amongst Linux supporters. If you disagree
with them they will track you down, camp outside your house, call your
wife, harass your employer and so forth.
These are very sick, religious zealots you are dealing with and they must
be treated as nuts until they prove otherwise. Some of them border on
mentally unstable. High Plains Nymshifter for example.

Well, as Rick showed recently by comparing Windows of two versions ago with
*current* Ubuntu, Windows was even then better in this area than Ubuntu is
today. And Windows has improved since then. And will likely continue to.

Not if you are not concerned about its benefits... just depends on what your

Here is the body of my post:

Have a look at print and file dialogs of Windows XP.:

So, is Windows XP a mature OS?

And no, I won't have Windows 7 or Office 2007 for a while.

Sounds like more of the same "who cares if it actually does anything, or
does it correctly: it looks good" nonsense that you try to peddle (despite

Your words:

"First: the topic is desktop Linux. Pick your distro. The user experience
of desktop Linux is clearly not mature - it is fractured (with PCLOS you
say into four or more different UIs) and not polished (as I have shown
with many examples... for which the only responses have been to ignore
them, insist they are forged, or whine about how the competition is also
not perfect)."

XP was not mentioned.

My answer to the above paragraph was Ubuntu.(snip)

Jesus... you didn't try to make it obscure, did you? I don't live next

I might be wrong, but I can't believe that this is actually TonyUK. I
think it's another forger (Clogwog).

TonyUK was a very nice, integer and intelligent person, I just can't
believe that he dropped GNU/Linux as his primary OS, as a result of the
vile attacks by Wintrolls.

When I started using GNU/Linux, I became aware of the fact that the Vole
is lying and that they have ripped my bank account. This is when I
started *disliking* the Vole. The M$ Evangeli$t$ however made me *hate*
the Vole.

IMHO the vile attacks by the Wintrolls do not make you drop GNU/Linux
but the opposite.

I think it's a faker :-(

Why the above snottiness? You and I both agree that there is no desktop
Linux distro that is as consistent, polished and mature (in terms of UI) as
what MS was producing nearly a decade ago. If you disagreed you would stand
by your claim that Ubuntu was a mature distro... but when comparing to MS
you back off.

Wait, but you already said Ubuntu was mature! And we already had the
discussion on what it means to be mature - but without even looking that up,
I will go with a mature UI is one that does a pretty darn good job of
following the established science and standards around what makes an
effective UI. Some examples that might help you:

ual/AppleHIGuidelines/XHIGIntro/XHIGIntro.html>

<http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Aa511258.aspx>

<http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/>

<http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Usability/HIG>

Without going through an exhaustive study of each and looking at their pros
and cons, suffice it to say that the closer a system / OS does of following
one of those guidelines the more mature it is. We would have to look a the
guidelines in more detail to see which best follows the established science.
I suspect it is the first I list, but there are some areas where I think it
likely fails (the single menu might not make sense for today's multiple
monitors, etc.).

Your games are boring. You contradict yourself, run from your own comments,
and then whine that you are not understood. Why not be an adult and
actually take a stand... even if that stand is you do not know! Your
wishy-washy flip flops and dodges make you look like a wet noodle.

Funny: you deny you said what I say, but you do not even try to set the
record straight with what your beliefs are. You would rather just be vague,
make people guess, and then whine you are not understood. In the end,
though, you will not point to a Linux distro even you think is as mature as

run from the very topic. It is clear you cannot think of one - if you could

Yaaaawn.

At least we agree that modern Ubuntu fares poorly in terms of UI issues in
comparison to even a relatively ancient version of Windows. Yeah, you have
to deny it or run from it to keep your buddies happy... but you do not
challenge it by even trying to show where I am wrong... and your hand-picked
screenshots were good evidence to support my claim. Sure, you try to be as
vague as possible - you are not very confident and are afraid to take a
stand.

Anyway, feel free to get the last word in... do not forget to call me names,
make accusations, and play other games to avoid talking about Linux. You

What else do you expect? Only a remorseless bald faced liar is suitable

A integer (ethical) person is unable to do that job. His or her

Your Drama Queen routine is tiresome already.

Those works are all intended to be consumed and eventually built upon
anwyays. The fact that some person somewhere might decide to play to the
role of "Irish Monk" is really nothing for anyone to get their panties in
a bunch over.

...you also conveniently left out the part where I said the only really
relevant part is whether or not the author gets their cut. Fantasies about
artistic megalomania are really quite irrelevant.

One does not need to be a "freetard" to object to being repeatedly
charged over and over again for the same thing. Objecting to that sort of
nonsense isn't "being a freetard", it's "merely being a man".

Once someone pays for their legit copy of something, that should be last
time that some author with delusions of grandeur can fuck with them.

You are a liar.

Where did I say it was "insurmountable". Nowhere.

You seem to be changing the subject again. You do that all the

I remember when "Hadron" professed to be "creeped out" by
wispygalaxy (IIRC). Funny as hell.

They actually believe what they write, but they are deluded due to lies
Microsoft feeds them. I spoke to a friend who met some Microsoft employees and they
are out of touch with market's market share. It's like that "96% on netbook"
nonsense.

Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with your Microsoft product.

Well, it's easy for people to delude themselves, and on a number of
levels.

"Customers overwhelmingly 'choose' our product - it must be good."

"No one is being hurt."

"The Microsoft ecosystem provides gainful employment to a lot of
people."

Etc, etc.

What these rationalizations fail to consider is that people *are*
being hurt. Lack of healthy competition always, always, ALWAYS
results in a product which is sub-optimal and over-priced.

It may be that each individual Microsoft customer pays "only a little"
more than what they should and that Windows' quality and performance
is "only a little" worse than what it should be. This is what makes
the problems so easy to overlook. But when these problems are
multiplied by the *hundreds of millions* of installations, they add-up
to a significant, and unfair, burden on society - overwhelming the
"positives" like those well-paying jobs.

The Microsoft Corp has negative net-worth to society.

Threads become circular when people refuse to answer simple questions. Look
at Rick... he just contradicts himself, calls people liars, and then refuses
to take a stand... even to just admit he does not know.

In other words... you won't take a stand.

Google shows that just the other day regarding the "user experience"
of "desktop Linux" you claimed:

"... there is no specific benchmark it must reach to earn the title of
"mature".

Of course, you made that statement after having claimed the "user
experience" of "desktop Linux" was:
"clearly not mature"

And:

"The UI *clearly* has some maturing to do"

If "there is no specific benchmark it must reach" to earn the title of
"mature" then explain how it is "clearly not mature" without talking
about these benchmarks it doesn't need to reach. See how easy it is to
point out how absurd your idiotic trolling is?

No, you have the "ishy-washy flip flops and dodges" that "make you
look like a wet noodle"... a delusional noodle who projects all his
pathetic traits onto others as he pretends to be arguing but is
actually just trolling with his "psych degree" in tow.

If you are going to backpedal on something it helps to try NOT to do it
in the exact same thread where the comments in question are still quoted
in the same message.

Aha! Shortly after the above "Tony(UK)" post, the below was posted.
Someone *has* been forging Tony(UK), and it's *the forging troll* that
received the ire of the advocates, not the real Tony.

Chalk up another moral victory for the advocates, and another defeat
for the dishonest assholes Flatshit and Quack, who have claimed that
advocates "harassed" (the real) Tony for simply "acknowledging issues
with Linux on the desktop".

Thank you Terry, the same counts for you and the majority of COLA posters.

The majority of COLA posters are nice and intelligent people and that's
what I love about COLA.

Duh! what a waste of time and energy. I plonk the troll in silence and
simply move on. It is not worth the time and energy :-)
