Is there a safe way of distributing 100,000,000 copies of MS programs
without being caught? I guess not. But whenever you get a chance,
pirate them from your friends! You will be doing good. A priest told
me that if you pirate $10,000 worth of MS programs you can go to
heaven.

Hmm. That's incitement to commit a crime, so I won't encourage people
to actually go out there and do it. Better would be to take your
pre-loaded copies of M$DOG and WinDoze to Redmond and burn them all
publically while singing the national anthem of your choice... :)

Seriously, why should I pirate a copy of ExHell when I have plenty of
things that are (for my purposes at least) better?

"Why use EMACS? I can get MS-Write from work!"
"Why use Linux/X11? I can get MS-Windows from my friend Joe!"
"Why use XPaint? I can get MS-Draw from my friend Sue!"

The piracy of commercial software is one of the forces that are
fighting against Free Software.

What's M$-DOG? oh... you mean that Boot-virus... (heh)
Also... I have heard many homonymns for windows (like WinDoze) but my favorite
one is "WinBloze" :)

ExHell! i love it!
if anyone else has any humorous names for software that either "just doesnt
cut it", or comes from a company like M$, please post them... hehehe.

There is a problem with the current system of preloading
Windoze on every system sold. I would hope that a vendor
has the option of selling "clean" systems without sacrificing
profitability.

The best way of doing something about MS s**tware is to
remove the dependency in the first place. To that end:

1> A spreadsheet in Linux that can import and export
M$-Excel files.

2> Something that can replace Office.

3> Something that can replace Encarta.

4> Something that can replace Windoze. (like Wine)

I'm no expert, but these should be a start. (I don't
do spreadsheets, I program in C/C++ :-) )

My latest PC came without WinDoze (I specifically asked to not have it
:^), and the DOG that it had was without manuals and disks (and wasn't
paid for). That I got it at all didn't matter, since the first thing I
did was to repartition the HD... :^)

Why export ExHell files? You want people to move _to_ Linux, not from
it :^)

We've already got that. The fact that there are a lot of people who
don't want to use X native apps doesn't invalidate X as a solution...

I program in Tcl/Tk and perl (and some C, unfortunately), but I still
fail to see why you even let Billelzebub set the agenda...

It is possible that within an organization during transition that you may
need to do this.

*grin* Not having used Office, I can't comment. However,
if it is simply a suite of mail/notepad editors/etc. then
any competent Unix should have these.

Because of his 80-90% monopoly of the PC computer market,
there has to be some interface. We cannot exist in a vacuum.

There will be an ugly transition period...
