Sinofsky. And he wasn't canned. He left on his own accord - did you
not read his letter?

Yes...when someone leaves suddenly it is not usually by their choice...
just a typical corporate answer.

For many high-level jobs, you fill out your resignation the day you are
hired.

LOL - Riiiiight.

Some usenet nym from COLA has connected friends in high places who work an
Microsoft who (hours later) told you what's really happening at the highest
levels with one of the most senior people in the entire company.

Well, people who I actually believe have real contacts in MS say that
it was mutal decision. Though, they do say that it was known for a
while that he would be leaving shortly after the launch - and it had
nothing to do with nay products - but, apparently he rubbed his peers
and seniors the wrong way.

I don't feel too sorry for him. He's already a multi-billionaire and with
his resume there would be a line of offers for him to be the CEO of some
tech company. He should just take the Paul Allen route and spend the rest of
his life enjoying the money he's worked for.

Well , I have big connections at Microsoft too.

Years ago my wife's P-1 came with the 1995 version of Word.
One of the floppies went bad...maybe in the year 2001
and I actually called Microsoft and talked to someone in person.
He said they were out of the floppies and could not supply a replacement.

Some one on Usenet sent me a disk image and I burned all the CD's to cd...
However at least a have a big contact at Microsoft now :)

Why, Bill Clinton said it was only sex, and he got off the hook.
And he was the commander in Chief at the time.
So we have to ask the question why do they want him out of there? Really?

Yeah, Sinofsky "left on his own accord" -- just like fired NFL coaches
"leave on their own accord." They're given options, "leave and we won't
fire you."

ME, Vista, 8. The losing tradition continues.

You're an idiot, RonG. Sinofsky was responsible for Win7 and Office.
He was apparently abrasive and determined he wouldn't rise any further
in the company.

He and the products he oversaw are huge MS success stories - while the
desktop Linux "community" just goes from failure to failure.

Clinton got off the hook as it was just an affair ...
though yes, he lied about it.

She's going to be way, way, way too old by then.

She's 64 years old now. She'll be 69 in 2016. By the end of her first term
she'll be 73.

Ronald Reagan was 69 years old when he was inaugurated which I believe is
the oldest ever for a President.

23 years after the guy started working there and was - how did you put
it? - abrasive, started infights and warfare, had a huge ego and was
constantly trying to gain power. He was not a team player.

Yes - but, he was very good at what he did, and so was tolerated. And
MS culture encouraged that kind of behavior. But, apparently, based on
what I'm reading today, Balmer is wanting there to be more
collaboration between divisions - particularly, windows, windows phone,
and xbox - and Sinofsky was now seen as a hinderance to that. So, I
suppose if he hadn't left he would have been fired.

Yep. Just like the guy Apple who they finally figured out was "abrasive"
and not "a team player" -- who had just overseen the release of Apple's
horrible map app. I'm sure it was just a "coincidence" there, too.

"Sinofosky, you can either leave by the door or I'll defenestrate you!"

But it did start out with "an affair". A lot more is involved, like you
say, but I also believe that the vast majority of spin will be to draw
the publics attention from something more scandalous.

Sorry, but that's a blatant contradiction. What you're saying is that
Microsoft encourages its people to behave like thugs, then merely
"tolerates" that behaviour, after they specifically encouraged it? And
then we're supposed to believe that the reason Sinofsky was "encouraged
to seek new opportunities" (i.e. got shitcanned) was because Microsoft
suddenly developed a distaste for the behaviour they specifically
encouraged?

Uh-huh.

I think it's crystal clear what actually happened. Microsoft is just a
bunch of gangsters that attracts thugs like Sinofsky then encourages
their thuggish behaviour, until those thugs fail to deliver the goods,
at which point they shoot the goon and dump the body, then promote
another goon from the ranks.

That's not even newsworthy, it's just another day at Vole HQ, one of a
countless number just like it, stretching back nearly four decades.

They didn't lose their humanity, they deliberately sold it.

Hypocrite Homer bragging about how much money he makes:
"I've worked in areas of political and military conflict before. I am
one of the few who agrees to those types of contracts, which make
contractors like me a scarce commodity (and therefore, very well paid)."

Hypocrite Homer admitting his utter greed, Jan 2011:
"Meanwhile, I make a moderate income from something I actually enjoy
doing, as opposed to the years I endured doing something I didn't..."

Hypocrite Homer grubbing for money so he can "devote more time" to his
favorite OSS project for his favorite distro: "I would very much
appreciate donations to assist me with the hardware and software costs
associated with maintaining my build systems and test systems, and also
so I can justify dedicating more of my very busy schedule to maintaining
the Fedora Tripwire package."

Exactly. He must have gotten "soft" in his older years, unwilling to
destroy more people so that he could have a bigger yacht.

You must be new.

DooFy is completely enamoured with tyrants, the more powerful and
malevolent the better. Few people are more deserving of the title
"evil minion" than him.

So you're as ignorant about Stalin as you are about Ballmer.

What? Don't you know that Stalin was chosen by his people? He was so
vastly superior to any other candidate that none of them could have
garnered even 1% of a vote. It's clear that the people didn't even
want a choice!

Just poking fun at people that think they know about famous people and
yet were never there. All we can go on is what was written about them.
And sometimes those reports are false.
