Got a new Dell flyer in the local newspaper today. I took a quick read
through it just to see what Dell was offering.
Well as could be expected Dell is anticipating windows Vista being a
selling point. They advertise most of their machine as being Windows Vista
capable[11].
What does [11] mean? Well let's see.
Item [11] of the small print located on the last page of the flyer reads,
"Microsoft requires that a PC have a modern processor with 512MB RAM to be
included in the Windows Vista Capable program. Since the operating system
and drivers are not final, Windows Vista has not been tested on all user
configurations. Microsoft does not require that the Windows Vista Capable
PCs enable the Aero user experience; therefore, unless configured with the
appropriate level of memory and graphics, some systems may run the basic
user experience".

I.e. some will run Windows XP with black shades.

That aside, Vista with Aero is $100 more expensive. For the licence alone,
that is...
