Roy's trotted out a new set of lies about Silverlight 4, and its
significance for Linux. Here's accurate information:

Since Linux has moonlight and it doesn't appear to be of interest to
people (IMO) Does it really matter even IF what you said was true?

So, in other words,

"If Roy Lies in a newsgroup, and everyone has him killfiled, is it still a
lie?"

No that wasnt the point. Since the distasteful Wintrolls have so many
tactics here, I have neither the time nor the trust in anything they
say. The point I was making was that regardless of what was said, from
what Ive seen there is no interest in Moonlight (or certainly v.little).

My response was more of a dismissal of Moonlight rather than a defense
of Roy. Since I haven't read the article in question I have no comment
on the validity or "correctness" of what was said about Moonlight.
Having said that its an opinion and everyone has one even the Wintrolls.

To trolling loons like Smith and Funkenbusch, not actively disagreeing with
or refuting Roy means he is your "master", or you are violently kissing his
ass.

Craziness. Proof that computer people can be just as insane as the rest of
'em.

My take on Roy is that he is basically a decent fellow who goes a bit
overboard on tech-arena conspiracy theories. Unfortunately, there is a
great core of truth in these theories, and Microsoft and Intel are but two
of the players in this pathological climate of business oligopoly.

And breath one word against 'em and you risk the valkyries (often
self-appointed) descending upon you. Tim Bray and Peter Quinn, for example.

It's of interest to Miguel de Imicrosoft. Maybe Timmy should be writing

No, jumping in whenever he is mentioned in order to defend him, like
this:

even though you claim to not read him outside of COLA is what means you
are kissing his ass.

Hi, reading some of the replies to Roy related subjects...its all about
bottoms with the Wintrolls isnt it? on the rare occasion its not about
bottoms then its about legs and "humping".

Maybe there is a hidden message there.

They are also doing it to drown out or harm any positive posting about
Linux.

Following observation was made:
Subject: 3.3 The destructive Troll

In about the year 1999 a new breed of Troll appeared who have the
declared intention of destroying a specific Target newsgroup. This is
done by a variety of posts, (see Section 4) intended to drive normal
posters away from the specific newsgroup.

When the percentage of Troll posts, including followups exceeds about
75% of the total posts, most readers seem to just give up and
unsubscribe. Usenet, and particularly the uk.local.* hierarchy is for
most users a hobby and if that hobby ceases to be enjoyable, the obvious
answer is just to find another hobby.
http://www.multinombres.com.ar/gpage.html

Without Roy's posts, it would have been over 75%.

Tim's the one who picked that thread, too.

Also, the list of posters above in no real way compares to the nasty drivel
of "Hadron", "Moshe", and "Ezekiel". 7, for example, provides more useful
information than the lot of them, and with better humor.
