"Jean-Michel" is a typical French first name. Howland is an English
family name.

I found one in Perth, Australia.

Continuing my search, I found: "Monday, 30 March 2009. (...) A year
ago today, I lost my closest friend Jean-Michel Howland aka Micka (to
me), after a very unfortunate accident left him battling for life in
the Intensive Care Unit for 4 nights."

That's all I managed to find. No mention of a family.

There is one member of the comp.os.cpm Newsgroup living precisely in
Perth, Australia.

Again, someone who disappeared without forecasting what to do of his
computer stuff.

Yours Sincerely,
Mr. Emmanuel Roche, France

Let this be a lesson. Please, everyone, make plans for what should be
done just in case.

JUST IN CASE ????

JUST IN CASE ????

And just how many of us do you think do not have an appointment with the
grim reaper?

There is no "just in case" about it. WE ***ARE*** going to die.
***ALL*** of us.

I haven't been able to connect with your site for some time. I usually get
an error that says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

If I click on Diagnose Connection Programs, after a brief wait I am told
"Windows cannot find the host name "z80cpu.eu" using DNS" "The Domain Name
Server may be down"

Can someone advise me if this is a problem with my ISP DNS or is a firewall
on my computer blocking something? I haven't had this problem connecting to
sites like www.gaby.de or sites in the .uk domain.

Yes, true. The system is sometimes overloaded by too many DNS
resquests because of continue spamming to the mail server.
Don't know exactly how to fix the problem for now. Simply retry and
you should get the domain name resolved.
Sorry.

Unfortunately archive.org does not really archive all sites and also not
the newest version. The last archived pages are more than 2 years old.
I am still not sure what criteria makes it happen that archive.org
archives a newer version. My own web site (www.z80.eu) was spidered also
the last time in January 2008.
It seems that only sites which are visited very often by alexa users are
archived. That looks like a commercial approach from archive.org.
And Alexa seems to be a (weak) kind of spyware...

Peter

Thank you for the response. I thought that your site had disappeared also.
Now I know that your site is up and running.

I'm afraid that no amount of trying to reach your site will be successful
for me. I believe my verizon.net DSL dynamic IP is on some blacklist so I
will never get through to your site. To test this, I went to one of those
web proxy services and tried to access your site and I was there
immediately. But when I tried to do this from my normal IP just seconds
later, I could not connect. So I must be on a blacklist at a higher level
than your web site.

I am a moderator on a web forum that is focused on the small community I
live in. We get spammers posting frequently in foreign languages and
sometimes using fonts that make the message look like alphabet soup unless a
language pack is installed to handle it. We considered asking the techs at
our hosting site to filter out overseas IP addresses, but we do have members
with families still living in their motherlands and we would be cutting them
off if we did that filtering blacklisting. So we are resolved to handle
individual spammers as they pop up.

We don't know how to fix this problem either so I understand your problem
with spam.

You did remember to leave me your 86-DOS stuff that didn't sell on eBay
didn't you? :) (Just in case)

Hey, Cliff, it's tentatively sold (although nothing has actually changed
hands yet).

Not me! I intend to live forever. So far, so good. 8^)

Actually, it depends on your definition of "death".
If you mean we'll all leave the physical body, then you're right.
If you mean we stop existing totally and you really
believe that, then I feel sorry for you. You have nothing to
look forward to.

I have nothing to look forward to after death.

Neither do you, but you are delusional.
