Hi All,

I am CORBA newbie interested in learning more about component based software development, using CCM + DDS (DDS4CCM), possibly working in the new IDL-C++11 binding as well.

As an intro to CORBA, I worked through Ciaran McHale's "CORBA Explained Simply" which was great.

However, there do not seem to be any recent books covering CCM in great detail. I obtained and am working through Fintan Bolton's "Pure CORBA" and John Siegel's "Quick CORBA 3". Both of these books only have a single chapter devoted to CCM.
There is also the German "Corba Komponenten: Effektives Software-Design und Programmierung" which I am trying to source.

Can you recommend any other resources, especially for DDS4CCM, or are the test cases included in e.g. ACE/TAO/CIAO the best bet here?

Best Regards,

Hi,
There are no books for DDS4CCM given that fact that this is a very
recent OMG standard. Available documentation at this moment is the
standard itself and we have some sheets about DDS4CCM in our CIAO
tutorial (see CIAO/docs/OMG-CCM-Tutorial.pptx). There are a lot of
examples/tests for DDS4CCM as part of the CIAO tutorial.

For the modeling side we have CoSMIC as pure research tool, not sure if
it currently supports all features. Artisan Studio 7.4 from Atego does
have support for CCM/DDS4CCM/AMI4CCM as part of its modeling suite. It
also supports deployment modeling.

At the recent Component Information Day there where several
presentations regarding CCM/DDS4CCM, I have gathered several links as
part of one of my blogs at http://www.orbzone.org/node/306

Regarding C++11, a lot of details are online at
http://osportal.remedy.nl and http://www.orbzone.org. Remedy IT has a
CORBA implementation of this standard, we are looking at a CCM
implementation of this standard, but that will be a significant amount
of work.

Best regards,
