I have been trying to get Airprint from and iPad to work consistently for a customer. It used to work with his old now dead 11g wireless router but has not worked reliably with several new routers I've tried (a Dlink and and Asus mode). I turned on multicast and other recommenced tweaks which didn't help. The iPad, printer, and routers all have latest firmware. I gather that very few routers work with Bonjour and that countless people are having this problem. Apple has little information of value and no router specs that I've seen specific Bonjour compatibility.
Some forum posters say the Linksys E1200 works for them but, by and large, there are loads of contradictory information in the apple forums.
If anyone can tell me a wireless router model that works for you I'd appreciate it.
Also, I'm actually seeing contradictory information re. whether Apple's own airport router reliably supports AirPrint. Does the Apple AirPort Express Base Station work properly? (NOTE - I am NOT talking about using the routers USB port, rather about printing to the customers Airprint compatible HP printer connected by wireless to the Airport.)

AirPrint requires Bonjour, and Bonjour is based on multicasts.
If the router correctly supports multicasts over the wireless network
(and bridges them to the wired Ethernet LAN, if the target device is
there), it should work with AirPrint in that context.
Apple's routers certainly support multicasts (including bridging to
Ethernet), as Apple uses Bonjour extensively for protocols like
AirPrint, AirTunes, AirPlay and iTunes home sharing.
I have AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express routers, and they certainly
work with AirPlay, AirTunes and iTunes home sharing. I haven't used a
printer with built-in AirPrint support so I can't be certain that it
would work, but I would be very surprised if it didn't.

If a printer implicitly has the support and one sets up the connection,
it (your devices) will bypass the other hooks and use that direct
AirPrint hook. One would have to set the channel up on each device
though, just as with any other 'new' device (peripheral).
