AOL servers are bouncing some sendmial 8.14.3 smtp MAIL commands that
contain the SIZE parameter.
How can I fix this problem?
Here is an example:

a) I have used _VIRTUSER_STOP_ONE_LEVEL_RECUR SION_ mainly as good keyword
for searching the newsgroups archives
[e.g. via [link] ] - "your problem"
has been discussed "a few times+".
b) _VIRTUSER_STOP_ONE_LEVEL_RECUR SION_ is "documented" in cf/m4/proto.m4
file in sendmail distribution

Hello Andrzej,
thank for Your reccomendations. Finally I solve this using virtusertable
- I'm not maintainer of these primary (highest priority) mailservers,
their administrators not uses LDAP, total number of users, for which I'm
doing backup MX, is less than 300 with very sporadic mailaddress changes.

I totally believe you..
I've tried this and so far so good. I've removed it from all servers
as when removing from the cluster it made no difference. When removing
it from my relay server I now see very minimal connection resets - as
you say it's outbound so this makes sense.

I understood. This is a hint which appeared in chapter 6 (performance tunning) of Bryan book.
ICONNECT is related to outgoing connections while the other timeouts are related to ingoing connections.
It's an error in the book. It was probably corrected in the last edition. I found it and pointed it

Really? It's undefined on the sendmail timeout pages, I was told to
put this quite low to weed out slow hosts.
Why do you say there is a bug and where is this documented?

This version fixes some problems:
* some certificate authorities do not properly check the requests they
are signing and hence allow spoofing via an embedded NUL in the CN
entry. Some checks have been added to deal with "bogus" CNs (see below

1) You can list valid addresses in the domain in virtusertable and
reject via virtusertable remaining addresses in the domain.
Search group archive for _VIRTUSER_STOP_ONE_LEVEL_RECUR SION_
[ e.g.vian google-groups ]
2) access table can be used in a similar way
3) You can use LDAP based routing to get benefits of LDAP replication

On backup server (with sendmail 8.14.3) I want accept mails only for valid
recipients in a given domain, and reject all others. List of valid recipients
I can have e.g. in text file as
user1
user2
...
userN
alias1
...
aliasM
Eventually, when server acts as backup for multiple domains, this list
items can be in form userX@domain1 .. aliasY@domainNN
