Hi comp.mail.sendmail community,

It appears that a bunch of milters used in our company (self written and proprietary) are experiencing the same issue each 2-3 hours. The thing is that all of a sudden, unix socket created by libmilter stops listening and as a result sendmail is not able to pass data to milter. I can confirm that socket is no longer listening using socat.
Has anyone faced the same issue? If so, what are the hints to overcome it except monitoring the socket and restarting milter?

I'm aware of a bug in libmilter 8.14.3 as shipped in debian squeeze
(and lenny). See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=527862

This is a bug in in worker.c included because libmilter is build with
_FFR_WORKERS_POOL. Bug 527862 is marked as fixed in version 8.14.4-1
but debian squeeze shipped with 8.14.3.

Regards,

Kees.

Thank you, Kees.
We are using sendmail 8.13.6 in production currently.
I can really see the correlation in time/date of milters segfaults and autogenerated messages from monitoring system, so that might be it. There is a good consideration to upgrade sendmail.
