What's wrong with this mtx script
|
| |
I wrote the following sed script to convert Pine's mtx format in windows
to the unix, mbox format. Pine responds by opening the converted file,
but with 0 messages. What am I doing wrong? My only thought is that the
new Unix style, From lines must be to the real person, not a dummy
variable.... more »

mailutil.exe for XP that really works
|
| |
Needless to say, I am interested in converting Alpine's, modified mbx mailbox format to plain unix or mbox format.
Mailutil.exe would be ideal for this, but the recent versions of this tool either do not work for me or do crazy things, when I run mailutil.exe in a dos box under windows xp.... more »

If some1 can please inform, I am wondering if in either Pine or Alpine, or even NANO, if I can import multiple file in to a current message? I think control+l only accepts 1 name?
Thanks so much in advance

A decent search option for alpine
|
| |
Pine has been missing one of the most useful option for users, ``for centuries". Most email clients created in the last 15 years or so, have a way to search for text within the 3 major header titles and the body simultaneously:
...To ???
Date ???
Message body ?????
Then can even rearrange your files by, for instance, all emails From: Mr... more »

deleting duplicate messages
|
| |
Is there a simple way to delete duplicate messages from a folder?
That is, out of more than one message with the same msg-id in the same folder
I want to keep only one. This happens often after sorting the inboxes and the
outboxes into folders: whenever a message is sent to more than one of my... more »

Some words are run together when a mail is forwarded
|
| |
It has come to my attention recently that some mails I've been sending out have lost some spaces and words are run together. I am using ALPINE 2.01(1266).
For example, here is a paragraph from an original mail I received:
The IMBD is an international program that aims to promote greater... more »

Can't reset saved passwords - Alpine 2.0 / Mac
|
| |
Hi,
I installed Alpine 2.0 on my Mac using Homebrew, then proceeded to configure SMTP and IMAP servers. On the first connect to my SMTP server, I input an invalid password. Now it gives an authentication error on every attempted connect, but I can't figure out how to reset the password. There is no file such as .pine-passfile to be found in my home directory. Restarting alpine does not help.... more »

Justification replaces unbreakable spaces with normal spaces
|
| |
Hi,
The subject says it all. If you type some unbreakable spaces, then justify your text, the unbreakable spaces are converted to normal spaces, and the line may be broken there.
This seems wrong. As the name suggests, unbreakable spaces are used to prevent line breaks (this is very common in French where you should space... more »

save a list of messages or attachments
|
| |
I have two related questions:
1) I have obtained an email with 10 attached jpg-files. How can I save them with one strike (and not doing "s" separatley for every single file)?
2) I have 1000 emails in my Inbox. How can I either delete them or save them into some mail folder with a few commands? Again, I would like to avoid doing the s- or the d-command 1000 times by hand.... more »

HOW2 send postponed mailS & halt imap?
|
| |
Now I can't re-check the menu at the <postponed mails mode>
because imap is BUSY, and I can't see how to stop it.
Can I stop it from the alpine menues?
But AFAIR <postponed mails mode> has only Forward & Reply
facilities. This seems WRONG, if 'postpone' means 'write
[possibly several] mails and accumulate them, to send all WHEN... more »
