Help with fetchmail

Has anyone experience with fetchmail for use with alpine and an gmail account? I seem to be getting a connection but it fails somewhere along the line.
How does one tell it where to store the fetched mail? The fetchmailrc examples I found on the web don't make this clear.
If it would help I can post the error messages.... more »

replies stored automatically in folders

Dear all,
I have searched for this, but I haven't found any solution up to now, I am somewhat a newbie to alpine.
Assume the following situation:
1. I got an email.
2. I saved it to some of my folders.
Here comes my problem:
3. Now if I reply to this email I really would like that reply to be also saved automatically in the very same folder in order to get a thread of this correspondency.... more »

I have never been able to get the automatic password feature to work. Following the examples given on the web:
I created the .pine-passfile. I responded yes when asked if it was to be stored.
It has not worked. I have tried a couple of versions of alpine with the same result.

Hello,
I use alpine on a mac at the command line.
I have used the alpine v. 1.01 from the u. of wash. and the v. 2.00 from macports.
I see no difference in those mail functions I normally perform. I use an imap connection with a gmail account.
