I've just spent (some) time on a Linux/Ubuntu machine trying to get Pine
to read my IMAP server files. I realise that I'm going to enter the
account password every time I start Pine, but I seem to have to do that
when I try to read folders on the server even after logging onto the
server at the start of the session. Not only that but there's very little
feedback on what's going on from the system! Even then there's some time
wait involved before normal service is resumed. I've been reduced to
hitting likely keys at random in an effort to get some response (not
desirable I know). So is this password hassle usual? PC-Pine seems so much
easier...

What with that and the time taken to sort out authorisation from the
server, and the hassle of getting an incoming-folder sorted out using an
existing .pinerc from another machine, I have to say changing machines for
the same account setup is harder than it should be!

Sorry to follow up, etc., etc...
Well, setting rsh-open-timeout to "0" seems to have solved that one!
