Hi,

I have a collection of messages in which many have been marked for
deletion already, however, I need to review them to make sure they are
garbage. There are some I'm sure I can delete, and I know that I can use
the AGGREGATE command to select messages and perform certain processes on
them. However, it seems I can't expunge "selected" messages.

Does anyone know of any good way of doing this?

Thanks,
Jessica

Save them to an empty folder, expunge the originals, and then undelete
the copies.

I also would like to be able to do this without having to go
through the contortion that Ephraim suggested. This is #4 in my
Miscellaneous Pine wishes, which are here:

<http://www.ii.com/internet/messaging/pine/#wishesMisc>

In this wish, I have a suggestion for implementing this using the
X and x commands. One reason that this would be useful is it
would give us another *very needed* flag for messages, i.e., I
could start using the D flag to mean something other than expunge
this the next time that I type 'x' (because x would only be
applied to *selected* messages that are marked for deletion --
see my wish for details).

Maybe if enough people ask for this, our wish will come true.
Nancy

There was a message in the c-client mailing list from Hein Roehrig on
February 23 2003 asking for this feature in the c-client library. Mark's
answer was that it this was not planned to be added (for technical
reasons), so don't count on this for a long time (if ever).

If the server doesn't support UIDPLUS expunging a single message
require undeleting all other message, expunging, and redeleting the
previously undeleted message. This can be very slow.

My wish for the x(punge) is an *unexpunge* toggle as sometimes I press the
"x" inadvertently (as in not paying attention or whatever). I think that
I got around that one time by just selecting the item and d(elete) then
either undelete or space bar (don't remember and will probably cus next
time also).
