I think the priorities are wrong here; the first thing it needs is a
much snappier name. How about PINP (PINP is not PINE)
I agree, but think spruce would be a better choice;
Source Perl U.. C.. Emailer
Spruce - a Pine/Perl United Compatible Emailer
FIR is also a potential name; Fix It Right!
Any other suggestions?
Kjell
Spruce is already taken. I used it some years ago. It's (or
was) a GTK+ MUA - http://spruce.sourceforge.net/

I'll second that; and ask this: is it (will it be) ported for Fedora and
cAosity? (There is a pine version for Fedora ; it worked fine -- till I
gave up on Fedora after I bought a flat monitor ...)

Keep in mind that I know little of what I'm talking about.
Agreed, but I don't thing PINP is snappy. How about
VITOP (Vitop Is To Overcome Pine)? :-)
BTW, as the development tools is Perl, IMHO it will not be a clone of pine
in strict sense. Different development tools wil lead to something quite
different (if successful), maybe much more than pine. :-)
There are other Perl simple email clients, maybe even fully working one.
Maybe should start with those:
Pail <http://pail.sourceforge.net/>
Flail <http://www.flail.org/>
Civilwar <http://sourceforge.net/projects/cwar>
Good luck!
