I am unable to print any of the email either using the "%" or
the "y" (my config); believe that printing was available in
ver 1.0, if I remember correctly. The attempt to print was
made both in console mode & in a kde 4 xterm.

Should clarify more in that I do get prompted for "yes or no"
for printing; selected "yes" & away it "did it" but nothing
is printed. I did an "lpr" to print a small file as "just
in case" & the printer is still working....

using suse 11.0 & haven't tried printing with the windows version.

hope there is an easy solution/config as printing is needed.

I've never had any trouble with printing in alpine so I
guess your lpr-command/cups might need attention.

Don't think that my lpr config need attention. I am able to print using
the lpr command as stated. I am also able to do a "screen print" of
the alpine displayed mail when using xterm in kde.

Have tried alpine 1.1 & it still won't print.

What happens if you choose "CustomPrint" and type in /usr/bin/lpr?

Did you have a look at the printer setup page (type M S P)?

Is there anything in the queue after you try printing (lpq / lpstat)?

didn't try "CustomPrint" & /usr/bin/lpr.
also didn't know/see a printer setup of M S P.

didn't have to do any of the above in pine as pine just worked & printed;
if I need to configure alpine for printing, then it is a big change as
pine just used the "system printer" (lpr) for printing, I thought....

will get & reinstall alpine again to see about your suggestions.

My alpine 1.0 did print out of the box without any problem, using
lpr.

Would think that that the "pc printer" using ascii would've worked.

Could be that the printer is connected to my router but still...

Anyway thanks to people helping, especially the ref to the printer
setup which I thought I had tried to find....my "senior moment"
must've kicked in. Now won't need to use Thunderbird even if
it is a nice mailer; I do prefer a non-graphics mail & news reader.

Thanks all again......whewwwwwww.
