Beartooth,

We can make any IMAP- or POP-accessible mailbox your Primary
INBOX. Which one do you prefer? My guess is that you want the
titan.lserv.com INBOX to be your primary INBOX, but before I walk
you through setting that up, I want to be sure. This will be the
mailbox that is opened when first run 'pine' on any of your local
or remote systems.

Thank you,
Nancy

Yes, please, by all means. I use the adelphia POP3 only for usenet and as
a convenience because it's a lot easier to tell people I first encounter
in the flesh to use "Beartooth" than its Finnish translation, which is
where I got "karhunhammas" -- years ago, when I retired and first needed
a Net handle of my own. It seems to me utterly wrong-headed to settle for
POP to do anything you can do from IMAP instead; blessed be the name
Crispin unto the ultimate generation!

OK, do this.

0] Quit pine on your local system.

1] On 'pine' running *on titan*, type MSC

2] Go to the inbox-path line and type C to change it.

3] At this prompt

Name of Inbox server :

paste this:

titan.lserv.com/novalidate-cert/user=karhunhammas

4] At this prompt

Folder on "titan.lserv.com/n..." to use for INBOX [inbox] :

Type this:

INBOX

It is usually best to type INBOX in all caps (i.e., no lower
case letters!)

5] Exit and save the settings.

6] Quit pine.

7] Run 'pine' on titan and check that the default INBOX is what
you want.

8] Quit pine on titan.

9] Start 'pine' on your local system and check that the default
INBOX is what you want.

Let us know what happens!
