Hi,

I installed Alpine 2.0 on my Mac using Homebrew, then proceeded to configure SMTP and IMAP servers. On the first connect to my SMTP server, I input an invalid password. Now it gives an authentication error on every attempted connect, but I can't figure out how to reset the password. There is no file such as .pine-passfile to be found in my home directory. Restarting alpine does not help.

Any tips?

Thanks!

So I found the answer to my own question: passwords are magically stored in the OS X keychain. Deleting them from there cleared up the problem.

Where is this found and how is it changed? In a mac I too could never get
the alpine password function to work.

I don't know.

I could tell you about the linux version, but I think the Mac version is
different.

And one thing, the version of Linux that I've used since 2001, pine used
to keep the password, but now I have to enter the password every time. A
change in the configuration, or maybe a change in the default because of
the move to Alpine, so it's no longer compiled to keep track of the
password. That may be your issue, I don't know.

This has certainly been discussed in this newsgroup in the past.
