[Feature request] Moving the indexline when selecting by some text field

Hi all,

I know it's perhaps *not* the best moment for feature requests, but
I'm trying anyway: I am an avid user of selecting by text fields, e.g.
:TF^R, where ^R is "current from" and is mostly useful. But I often
happen to be on the "wrong" message, due to absent-mindedness: in
these situations the index line is *blocked* until the selection is
completed. Could it be made movable instead? From the UI POV I see no
problem: of course I can accept that it may be as hard as hell to
implement...

Also, when an address is in the form "Name Surname
<som...@somewhere.com> only the actual address is taken, and I wonder
whether the whole field could be taken instead: it's easier to delete
one part or the other than retyping by hand the missing one.
