I can't remember why, but I recently did a re-install over an existing
PMail and now new mail stays in the new mail folder till I close the
programme, then moves into the Main Folder, whereas it used to move
automatically into Main Folder once read. I do not have
Tools/Options/Basic Settings Allow Read Messages to stay in the New
Mail Folder selected. Any ideas?

That may be the normal behavior. If I understand the following
correctly, you should be able to force it by closing the New Mail
folder (instead of the program). From Help:

But that is what it is no longer doing - if I close the New Mail
folder, the read new mail stays there instead of moving to Main Folder

Is there a folder name in the blank under Tools - Options - General
settings - Basic settings - Name for default mail folder? If there
isn't, type one in (such as "Main folder," without the quotation
marks) and click on Select folder. If there is, try clicking on
Select folder anyway. (I see from an old post that you had this
problem once before. I suggested clicking on the Select folder
button, and that fixed it.)

Are you sure about that? I've never seen Pegasus behave that way or
seen any settings that would cause it to behave that way. The only
settings are the "Allow Read Messages to stay in the New
Mail Folder" setting.

If you use Preview Mode (I don't), maybe the "Apply filtering rules
when previewing folders" might make it act somewhat like that.
Otherwise, I don't believe that Pegasus is capable of moving a message
to another folder immediately after being read.

Steven,

I've done this and it is now working!
I had checked that the mail box was OK under Mailbox location and
seen that Main Folder was listed under Basic Settings, but hadn't
clicked on Select - I assumed that, because mail was going where it
should when I closed the programme, it was set up.

I couldn't find my earlier post (you seem very organised), but have
the impression that it wasn't going to the Main Folder at all that
time.

Thanks again

Maybe I explained badly - it shouldn't move immediately after reading,
but once I close the new mail folder. It's working now, but thanks for
the reply

It's doing it again - this time, I'd changed nothing - it was working
one day and not the next. I've gone through all the things above for
the original Mail Folder (checking it is there under Basic
Settings/Name for default folder and even Select Folder. I've also
renamed Main Folder as Main Folder 5 and created a new Main Folder
and still this problem. Done re-indexing and checking of consistency
just in case

Don't know if you are still there, Stephen, or whether I can still
send questions by this method, but I've got the same problem again on
both computers and our normal fix below doesn't work. "Stay in new
mail folder" is not ticked. Any more ideas?

I'm still here, but as you've noticed, things are pretty dead. I
don't know what else to suggest. If nobody else chimes in, you
might try asking at the Pegasus Community site:

Thanks, Stephen, I might just have to leave it - I'm sick of this
