I am new to mutt, so please be gentle ;-)
I am "evaluating" mutt as my new favorite MUA, and it is likely that I
will use it (also) from within Win32 connected to my Linux machine via SSH
(PUTTY as terminal app).
As Midnight Commander (MC) does work with the pos1/home and the end key, I
am happy. But for some reason mutt does not "understand" those keys.
I already "fiddled" with my PUTTY config, with no success.
Can anybody point out to a solution? (Any solution I would understand^^)
Greetings Stefan
# export TERM=linux
That's all, folks!
Stefan
You can put this in your putty config.
Under Connection -> Data, enter "linux" or another compatible
term type in the "Terminal-type string" textbox.

Yes, but no: "linux" and "putty" terminfos have many differences,
that you can see typing "infocmp linux putty". Each printed line is a
difference. Setting TERM=linux with PuTTY may well fix <Home> and <End>,
and seem at first sight to work overall, but it's in fact very
suboptimal. A bad setting. The same stands for TERM=xterm (which is
PuTTY's default).
The good setting is TERM=putty, together with an up-to-date terminfo
putty entry on the distant host.
Bye! Alain.
