Hi,

I'm having trouble moving Eudora 7 to my new Windows 7 desktop, was previously using on a Win XP computer. The info I've found elsewhere says just install it. It installs fine, no problem there. I installed it so that all the files, including data are in the Eudora root directory, rather than the data directory that Win 7 wants to put it in. Since that's the way it was in my WinXP computer, I thought bring my existing data over would be simpler. Looking in Help/About confirms that Eudora is looking in the right place for the data.

So I copied all the files from my old installation into the new folder on the new computer. Most of the mailbox/folder data shows up fine--except the most important mailboxes: in, out, trash, junk. All other mailbox data shows up. I thought it might be a corruption issue since I reinstalled from a Carbonite backup, but I don't think that's the issue, because I tried some older inbox files I had saved on a thumb drive and they don't show up either. I tried deleting the in and outbox TOC files to see if Eudora would rebuild them from the .mbx files, but no luck, nothing happens. I tried looking at the MBX files with notepad, they look intact. I tried moving a message from another mailbox into the new blank inbox, it showed up fine.

Personalities and some other stuff are also missing, but I don't care about that. I really need to get my in/out box restored so I can get back to work.

I don't know what to do next--if anyone with a lot of knowledge in this area can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm really stuck and getting behind in my work.

Dennis,

Thanks very much--I already realized this is what I needed to do and am underway, looks like it will work fine. Thanks for responding and especially the info on modifying the .ini file, I wouldn't have known to do that.

Phil

One last question, what is the exact file name to the .ini file? I see a DEudora configuration file, but nothing else....
