Even if you don't want a fancier version, I'd suggest updating to the last
version of 3.x, which would be 3.0.5 for the Pro version.

Try replacing that "@" with "%".

OK, it didn't work, but you may be onto something. That's obviously the
line that it isn't reading right. I installed a demo 4.2 version which
lets you fill those fields out seperately and it worked. So then I went
into eudora.ini and looked to see what it looked like there.
It's exactly the same as my doctored one (ab...@myisp.com). But it works
in the 4.2 demo version and still won't in 3.1
Go figure... :-\
Thanks for the suggestion... it's keeping me trying anyway!
Try:
The one I have works with the Percent Sign (%), using your example,
what I would have in the POP account is...
abner%myis...@mail.myisp.com
If this still does not work, then the ISP *may* also be
requiring authenication. Authentication is not supported
in the 3.x versions. See below for details.
You will need a minimum of Eudora 4.2.
You can always download the latest 5.x / 6.x version and test
it out in Light mode.

OK, I tried that percent sign in all different places, in the Pop
Account and in the Login Name. But I must never have gotten it just like
you have it there, because when I did it *your* way, it worked!
Thank you very much!
Katrina had the right idea too... she just wasn't quite as specific as
you were.
What IS your pop3 server? Is it "mail.sbcglobal.yahoo.com"?
If so, then your pop3server line should be...
Popserver = mbalar%sbcglobal...@mail.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
Username = mba...@sbcglobal.yahoo.com
Note... their pop3 server might be called something else like
pop3.sbcglobal.yahoo.com, in which case you'd have to substitute "pop3" for
"mail" (above).
Hey, wait. Can you even DO pop3 with Yahoo?
thanks- still does not work-it says
i can't tell where the maichne name is is in the pop
thanks

Yes, you can do pop3 with SBC/Yahoo. My settings in 4.3.2 are:
mail server - pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
login name - userid%sbcglobal.net
SMTP server - smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
The SMTP server requires authentication, which someone noted earlier
in the thread. Eudora versions prior to 4.2 do not support
authentication, so you would be unable to send mail with them. I
presume you could read mail, however.
There is an sbcglobal SMTP server which does not require
authentication. I don't know if it's an oversight, used for testing,
or what. I wouldn't be surprised if it disappears suddenly one of
these days, but it might allow use of a 3.0.x lite version for a while
longer. If anyone wants it email me direct, although the name is
pretty obvious and wouldn't take much experimentation to figure out.
