IMAP and POP

My main email account has just changed from POP to IMAP. I have a second
account which is POP.

I have various filters that place mail in specific mailboxes.
When mymina account was POP, a mailbox into which a new message was
filtered would open automatically.
Now I find that such mailboxes sometimes open and sometimes do not. I
haven't yet worked out why.
I am wondering if I need to adjust some setting. I would really like all
mailboxes to open if they have received a message.
OS 10.5.4, Eudora 6.2.4 paid mode.
