Author Erica Sadun mentions Eudora in point #13
(having already overspent her "ten things" initial budget estimate :)

She could have changed the headline from "ten things" to a "baker's
dozen".

And Quicken for Mac. While my research on how to save Eudora
quickly had me ready to buy an iMac before the Lion release,
it was during that research that I discovered I would also lose
Quicken. I'm so relieved to still have both of them available.

:-) Saving the best till last, I guess!

And I occasionally still use AppleWorks and other Rosetta-needing odds
and ends. Glad to have snagged a pre-Lion MacBook Pro, which ought to
hold me for awhile until hopefully (dare I hope??) better alternatives
are available.

It won't get any better, but you'll get used to it in the end. ;)

One of the things I love about my i7 macbook pro is that it provides me
with a wickedly fast sheepshaver - faster than "Traditional" MacOS on
any G4 has ever been...

I'm not sure what a sheepshaver is, but I just got an i7 MBP and it is
fast enough that it makes using Mail OK. I guess if all I ever did was
basic web surfing and email with my computer, the older models would
still be perfect, but running Logic, Pro Tools, etc. on an i7 is a thing
of beauty. I loved Eudora as far as it went, but it got to be a drag not
being able to see all of the formatted emails properly. Mail is still
frustrating in some regards (and latest version was NOT an improvement
with respect to all the threading crap), but Eudora is sadly fading in
the rear view.

SheepShaver is a open source PowerMac emulator.

and see

for an example of what a full scale installation can provide.
