(BTW I tried to get him to switch from his tiop-posting habit without
success.)
I cannot find a way of doing this on the Mac, could not find the
equivalent <x-eudora-setting:??>. Can anyone help please? Maybe with
an Apple-script?
On a slightly different topic: I tried to post this to the Qualcomm
Eudora forum some time ago. I registered but never got the right from
the Administrator to post. Looking at that forum again today I don't
even see a way to register aslthough the Forum seems to be alive. is
it closed to newcomers?

Thanks for trying.

Command-R with nothing selected will create a reply with the quoted text
selected. Hitting the back or up arrow and then the return will put the
cursor at the beginning above a blank line.
Better would be for him to select the text to which he is replying, then
hit command-shift-R, then down arrow and return. This creates a reply
with just the selected text quoted and the cursor at the bottom. (If he
absolutely insists on annoying everyone else by top-posting, he should
hit the up-arrow instead of the down.
To Reply to All (including the people cc'd on the original) quoting
selection, the command is command-option-shift-R. Reply to all quoting
the entire message is the same but don't select any of the text
beforehand.
I'm in the habit of using the keyboard commands, so that's what I've
given above. The commands are also available on the Message menu, but
you have to hold down the required modifier keys (command, option,
control, or shift) to see them. He should experiment with the different
menus to see how they change when different modifier keys or
combinations of modifier keys are held down while selecting the menu.

Eudora is no longer supported or maintained and hasn't been for some
years, so I imagine they've probably discontinued the forums. The
knowledge base is still available, but I seriously doubt if anything new
is ever added to it. :-( However, you can usually get excellent support
here in comp.mail.eudora.mac. There are a number of us who are eager to
share our love for Eudora.

The Qualcomm forums are at: http://eudorabb.qualcomm.com/
There is a "Register" link right at the top of that (and other) pages;
the link disappears, of course, after you login,
to offer other options instead.
People are registering, and I see new joiners posting all the time,
so the forums are certainly active, including the "Eudora 8" forums
(still disguised under the name "Penelope" :)
where even Matt Dudziak of Qualcomm occasionally finds time to reply.
However, those forums are also continually under attack by spammers,
submitting voluminous registration requests, usually under nonsensical names,
and then posting either common spam or even some more repulsive content;
this may possibly reduce the capability of full attention by any
new account approver, who would be only someone still at Qualcomm,
although a couple of other moderators who can not approve new members
still try to sweep away ongoing spam, to relieve the "Penelope Janitor"
from having to do everything himself :)
Have you tried posting recently? What's your user name?
Another avenue for discussion and help is via private mailing lists,
e.g. at http://www.listmoms.net/lists/ where you will see two lists
devoted to Eudora (one for Windows and one for Mac).
All new arrivals to those lists are moderated for a short time,
and the lists have thus far been quite free of spam,
as well as each having a good supply of active helpers,
just like here :)
