No colour

I have a friend who uses various colours and fonts in her mails to me.
In particular, she often replies with her response in colour but not on
a separate line, just in the main text.

Lately the colour is not appearing, it's all in the standard font in
black, which makes it hard to read (wouldn't be hard if she set off her
replies in separate lines).

I've just moved up to OS 10.5.5, and my mail server has just been
changed so I have to use IMAP rather than POP as previously. The colour
is there as I can get it using 'open in browser' (I had wondered if it
had been stripped on its way to me, but plainly not).

The Styled Text setting is properly set to 'on receiving styled mail,
pay attention to color'.

I'm wondering if there is some other setting that needs adjusting,
perhaps as a result of the change to using IMAP.
