Hello,

the last few days I was trying to find an installer for ActiveTcl with the latest version (8.6.8 or 8.6.9). They seem to have changed to some build system that one must use now. I created an account, but its pretty complicated to set something up. In the end I had a project configured and tried to run a build, which is now more than one day in state queued.

I can not find any place where to download the nice batteries-included-installer that I always used before.

Anyone knows what happened there at ActiveState? No more support for Tcl? Currently, this is completely unusable, I think.

Thanks for any insights.

I cannot say anything about ActiveState's new download strategy. But you
can still download a ready-to-use batteries-included Tcl installer from
the address

Thank you very much. I was not able to find this in two days of search... Its not available anymore where it was.

(I see your problem is already solved, still..)

There are some distributions listed at the TCLers wiki:
https://wiki.tcl-lang.org/page/Binary+Distributions

Can't tell about the others, but I have a oldish instalation using
tombert's windos binaries at work with no problems (but I use it only
for a few small scripts, far from stretching its the limits)

Yes, I know them. Thank you anyway. It seem, that for the future, I have to switch the distribution anyway. This build system of ActiveState simply does not work. Its now three days, that my build doesn't do anything.

That was the problem, kind of... I had a script running perfecly on Linux and wanted to test it on Windows, but the version of Tcllib was too old for some functions, that I use (::json::many-json2dict). In the end, I just replaced the json-package in the old Active-Tcl-Installation, works also...

Ancient! :-) - No, seriously, I appreciate all these packages. ActiveTcl was just, what I was used to, when I had to install a batteries included version of Tcl on Windows and macOS. I liked the consistency over those two platforms with the same installer. Makes live easier. For Windows BAWT seems to be a good and pretty complete alternative.

On this page https://www.activestate.com/products/activetcl/ there is a red hyperlink saying "Download ActiveTcl Community Edition", which leads to the installation buttons. It appears you need to sign in with an account though ...

I have an account and know that button. It doesn't work, though... That's the reason for my question here.

Anyway, the first answer provided a working link, so problem solved.
