WHAT: Since the release of Tcl/Tk8, several patches have been posted
that are necessary for this alpha version (currently 6). I have
grabbed the specific news articles with the patch in them, and I
am making them available in one easy to find spot.
Please notify my if any known patches are missing. However,
don't send the bug reports my way...

Well, I've downloaded the patches (twice, using Netscape 3.01 and wget
because I mistrusted Netscape first) and almost all of the patches
fail (using patch 2.1, the latest version on prep). This may have to
do with them having been tampered with by the news posting agent when
they where posted first (e.g. tabs replaced by spaces). At least one
of them, CMDMZ.txt, does not apply to the current alpha version
`tcl8.0a1' at all, indeed the changes already seem to be in the
released version. Can anybody confirm this?
I think, the best idea will be for the SUN group to quickly release an
alpha2 version, incorporating the fixes found so far, because as far
as I've understood, they all fix severe errors.

I should have grabbed the patches as they came through on my regular
news reader, but I didn't think so many would come by so I decided to
grab them all via DejaNews so as not to miss any. They may have had
there tabs screwed up.
Anyway, I patched every one by hand, and each one was necessary for my
copy of Tcl/Tk8.0a1. Perhaps you are not reading the patches right, or
someone else required one of the patches already? I agree that it would
be nice to have more frequent snapshots in alpha, but it's only been out
two weeks (those two weeks including xmas and new years). You have to
give the poor guys some breathing room.
