Folks,

Well we made it! Only a week late (or a year depending on who's
counting). The new website is up and the product is ready for those of
you keen enough to upgrade.

I'd like to mention a couple of important points. We have rationalised
the Dolphin products set into two products. We now only provide a
single commercial product, Dolphin Professional and we will have a free
version called Dolphin Community Edition. You will find that the latter
actually has quite a lot more stuff in it than the old Value Edition.

However, at the moment the Community Edition and a trial version for
Dolphin Professional are not yet available. We hope to be able to bring
these out sometime before the end of the year. If you are a bit worried
about upgrading to the latest version "sight unseen" then you can get a
pretty good idea of what it looks like and what it includes by taking a
look at the online documentation at:

http://www.object-arts.com/docs/index.html

For those people who are already Value Edition and Standard Edition
users and are being (effectively) forced to upgrade to the Professional
version we have tried to provide very competitive upgrade prices to
compensate.

For all users wishing to upgrade, the way to do so (and to find out
exactly how much the upgrade will cost) is to log onto your My Dolphin
Account page on the website. In order to do this you will need two
pieces of information; your serial number and either your original
e-mail address or the RExxxx order number you were given when you made
your original purchase.

Okay, that's enough for now. It's been a long haul but I hope you all
enjoy the new version!

Best regards,

Congratulations!

My order has been placed. Let's see how it takes to process the order
and send the new serial number. ;)

Actually, I should mention something about this. We have changed from
using DigiBuy to go to ShareIt as our e-commerce providers. They
provide a number of advantages, not least of which is that they are
much cheaper in terms of transaction charges. However, some of the beta
testers who purchased prerelease copies reported that it was taking
quite a long time for the confirmation e-mail containing the serial
number to arrive.

The best idea is to make a note of the serial number in the web page
that is returned after your purchase so you don't have to wait for the
e-mail.

They did not provide a serial number on the confirmation web page, only
an order reference number. :( So I do need to wait for the email I guess.

BTW I had to enter a different email address a ShareIt, because they
didn't accept my yahoo.com email address. Should I have changed my email
address in the "My Dolphin" section befor ordering (a D5->D6 upgrade) or
does it not matter?

Best Regards,

Bernhard

Never mind that was not an issue. Apparently they don't do online
verification of credit cards, but I called them, got the card verified
and now I have the serial number and the download. :)

Andy, Blair,

Congratulations!

I've just installed it at work, the cursory look is impressive, but I won't
get to play for real until tonight.

Absolutely best Smalltalk environment. I love it.

I hope you guys get thousands of sales.

Congratulations to all the Object Arts team and their families :-)

The new version is great, the website is cool, and the documentation
seems terrific.

Every smalltalker deserves a copy. Licensed, of course :-)

Best regards.

Andy, Blair,

Congratulation for releasing Dolphing 6. As migrator from Visual
Smalltalk I can recommend it to every Smalltalker.

Uups, but sounds not bad for as synonym for "doing Smalltalking with
Dolphin" :)

Sigh and relief... The world is saved! At least mine. I am looking
forward to switch from Delphi to Dolphin ("a little step phonetically,
but a giant step in all engineering aspects")

A Community Edition is a great idea and a gift for many of us! Thank you
for that!

As for the trial version: Who wants to try a perfect product? I wouldn't
testdrive a rolls royce, do I? ... Just kidding ;-)

More serious: Thank you very much for crafting a product, which is a
magic wand in the hands of a smalltalker! I will buy it as soon as possible!
