I just wanted to announce that there is work on getting an LA-based
gathering up and running on meetup.com <http://meetup.com/> :

It's free to join and no obligation, just an opportunity to meet
fellow ruby developers and discuss current issues while getting some
help on the continuing process of understanding and using Rails to its
full potential.
