I have a bunch of CGI scripts written in OOREXX. Whenever one of them
is accessed by the web browser, the vsmon.exe component of ZoneAlarm
sucks up one entire CPU all by itself. Anyone ever see this behavior?

Any hints if you have on how to fix it?

I've had a similar environment in the past, with IBM Object REXX and
Zonealarm, and never encountered that problem.#

Does vsmon.exe eventually recover from its burst of hyperactivity?

There's quite a separation between an incoming HTTP request (which
would excite ZA) and your REXX executing. What webserver are you
running?

You could craft a really simple .bat file as a CGI (I'm presuming
Windows, because of ZoneAlarm) to see if that also gets vsmon.exe
worked up. I probably have one lying around if you need a sample.

Vsmon remains "pegged" until the script finishes executing. Because
vsmon is sucking up an entire CPU by itself, the script takes FOREVER to
finish. Running Apache 1 (never upgraded to Apache 2 because it's an
internal website and I'm too lazy to upgrade). I'll try running the
script outside of Apache and see if the result is the same.
