Does anyone know what the pricing on Micro Foucs PL/I is? Is it
possible to buy the compiler by itself, or is it sold only as part of a
bundle? Thanks.

I asked about this earlier, too Peter. I think somebody said $3,500 dollars
but that may have been for COBOL. I am interested in pricing for M/F and
Alchemy but I understand you have to "negotiate" with the latter at least as
the pricing changes with the phase of the moon. If anybody can post current
pricing for M/F and Alchemy PL/I and COBOL for all platforms (not only
Windows) I'd like to see it as well. I'm also interested in their Solaris
pricing but it's not at the top of my list to start talking to salesmen yet
about it.

I did speak with MicroFocus a few months back, and the cost was about
GBP 2500 or 3000, and the product is PL/I source code running against a
Java platform using a library of routines, so you need their runtime
licence for every product shipment (if you were selling it). I think of
it as PL/I source running via/in an emulator, and of course you can only
use the language constructions that they support. I decided that it is
not suitable for me and did not discuss it further.
