[Q] Can't compile PCL-2.1 with GCL-2.2. Any other CLOS package?

Hi. First, I can't compile PCL-2.1 with GCL-2.2. Does PCL-2.1
only compile with GCL-2.1? Doesn't seem reasonable... The problem
arises when GCL tries to load cache.o, giving the message:

Error: Dots appeared illegally.
Fast links are on: do (si::use-fast-links nil) for debugging

Broken at LOAD. Type :H for Help.

I've tried to (load "cache.o") manually, and it gives the same
error. However, (load "cache.lsp") gives no problem.

The second question I'd like to do is, what are the
alternative CLOS packages for GCL?
