Interested in CommonLISP

Hello Guys

I program AutoLISP (AutoCAD's programming interface dialect)

I would like to know what is needed to start learning CL.

I am looking for a freeware compiler or IDE
I downloaded Allegro demo but it seems too complicated for a starter.

ALSO - I live in Israel where most of the classified ads are connected
to computer programming ( we have so many software firms here !) - And
what amazes me is that I never have seen any ad looking for LISP
programmers - If it is so usefull - why doesnt anybody use it here ??

because it doesn't pay to use advertising to reach a mass market and then
have to weed out all the doofuses who lie about their skills, which is a
very noticeable cost in advertising for programmers in other languages.

professional marketing people do not believe advertising in mass media is
the best solution to all problems. neither should anybody else.
