[OT] Dear Dr. Jon Harrop,

your wise, intelligent, insightful, experienced, daily contribution to
this group is getting so important to all of us, that we really would
appreciate you to share some of your (doubtlessly thousands of
millions of lines of) CL code with us poor and stupid coders!

Please please point us to at least 1 (one) of your CL programs, so
that we all can learn directly from your outstanding intelligence and
wisdom!

Thank you!!

-JO

As on the street, the first one's always free. (Jon's a consultant
after all...) Unfortunately, full-featured, well established languages
are good for software developers and researchers but bad for consultants
and large companies peddling annual upgrades.

Who was rude to poor Jon on sci.math.symbolic (where the F- "language"
is now superior to Mathematica).

This representative of "Flying Frog Consultancy" has had numerous run-
ins at Wikipedia over spamming.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Jdh30

If he's telling the truth in his user page, he no longer contributes
because the only things he wants to contribute are currently
considered spam by Wikipedia.

"Flying Frog Consultancy" looks pretty disreputable, even by the
standards of IT. ;-)

Not quite. Some Wikipedians want to keep my contributions but remove all
references to my work from them, e.g. keep excerpts from my books on
Wikipedia but remove anything that says that the excerpt is from my book.

Without attribution, there is no justification for us to release our work
onto Wikipedia. It was just an experiment for us anyway. We'll concentrate
on releasing free content on our website and referencing it from news
articles instead, as this is much more productive.

We appear to agree. "Flying Frog Consulting" desires to spam
Wikipedia, according to Wikipedia's own standards. However,
Wikipedians would either delete the spam, or transform it into non-
spam. Neither outcome is in Flying Frog Consulting's financial
interests. Therefore it stops, or at least publicly claims to.

Fortunately, there are forums with weaker defenses for Flying Frog
Consulting to utilize.

Yeah, I always wondered about that. I have a few friends who are in
consulting (SAP, nothing glorious but highly profitable ;-), and I
know that they are usually very busy. They would not think of
spending time trolling in a newsgroup, because they have _clients_ who
fill up their time. I am not sure I would trust a company whose
representatives have time for trolling, it means that their time is
not very valuable.

Generic Classes in C# 2.0
By Paul Kimmel.
Article Description
Code once. Use many. That's what generics are about. Called templates
in C++, C# generics support separating code by algorithm and data
structure. For example, the generic list means that you'll never again
have to write a strongly typed collection. Paul Kimmel shows just how
easy it is to define and use generics, long considered one of the most
advanced and difficult idioms. This article is adapted from Paul
Kimmel's book C# Express (Addison-Wesley).
