GCL 2.4.0 on Cygwin

I tried to compile GCL 2.4.0 on Cywin 20.1, but I get this error:

...
make[1]: *** [file.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/cygdrive/c/jsp/cs381k/gcl-2.4.0/o'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Does someone know what this means? Has anyone compiled GCL 2.4.0 on Cygwin
