Validate serial port

I have an application which is communicating with the instrument VIA serial port. The serial port to be used is specified in the ini file ( e.g. COM1, COM3, COM5 etc.) I need to validate if the port indicated in the ini fiel exists or not. Can someone help me? Thank you

I'm new in Labview and so I would like if someone could help me. I need to do a simple program using shared variables however I'm not being able to make the connection between both computers. I have a first computer where the main program is and a second computer with a different programs.
