I am looking for a hosting company which hosts Java, preferably in
Canada.

I would also prefer a private Tomcat environment.

Google lists some, but a lot of them only show basic JSP support, and
others have really old "news" bulletins (dating back to 2009).

It sounds like you're after shared hosting, but you might want to consider
using one of the zillions of VPS providers out there instead. That way
you can set up whatever environment you need, and (depending on your
space/BW/CPU requirements) you might not end up paying *that* much more
than you would for traditional shared hosting.

If you're not comfortable with handling basic administration of the box,
there are plenty of managed providers who can do that stuff for you
(albeit with a corresponding increase in price.)

I'm afraid I don't have any specific recommendations for Canadian VPS
providers, but you might want to head over to Web Hosting Talk and pour
through some of the reviews there to narrow down your list.

Best of luck!

Roedy, you seem to run a fairly intense application, what hosting site
do you use?

It is run by a guy who used to work for me, Randolph Richarson.

see http://mindprod.com/contact/equipment.html#SERVER

My big problem is he is so busy he has never got around to setting up
so I can run a Java server. The hardware is quite amazing. My peak
traffic uses only about 1% of its capacity.
