Hi,

I was testing new SwiftX version on LaunchPAD. Could anyone advise, how to communicate with the LaunchPAD board running using a terminal program? Instead of SwiftX console.

How did your LaunchPad work with 4E4th?

I've tried to use 4E4th happily. Though I need to spend some more time. We are planning to use LaunchPads to teach instrumentation. We are designing some experiments and tools for it. I am willing to teach using Forth. So, looking for available solutions, implementations, etc.

May I suggest you ask other SwiftX users via the SwiftX email list...

"The SwiftX mailing list is a forum for SwiftX users. It exists to
provide a place for the community of SwiftX users to communicate,
exchange ideas and code, and get help from each other. To subscribe,
send a blank e-mail to swiftx-...@forth.com with the word
"subscribe" as the subject."

You will probably find other SwiftX/LaunchPAD users there!

Cheers,
Elizabeth

Today I got the information that SwiftX is a cross-compiler and there
won't be a stand alone
running forth.

Since I am working on 4E4th for education, please let me know what you
need for teaching instrumentation. Our 4E4th-Terminal supports all
MSP430G2553 I/O constants, so they can be used immediately. Saves a
lot of defining work. And we are working on ready made I/O modules/
words.

Thanks for your kind and fast reply. Indeed, I am talking to Dirk Bruehl about your efforts in 4e4th, and I am very much enthustiastic to use it for a research education tool.

As I have said to Dirk before, I need some more time for getting ready. Thenafter I would appreciate your support a lot. We may also take part in your development efforts.

Probably/ Hopefully I will start working on LP&Forth by mid September.

Adnan

Good to know. Forth needs education and microprocessor education needs
Forth.
Instrumentation is a good place to start with!
