Relax, I am a Y2K COBOL contractor and this is still an issue everywhere
I go. You can lose a contract whether you are right or wrong, depending
on what the inerviewer believes. Have an official document from the web
with you, you may still lose the contract because of embarrassment.

Another little know issue: according to IBM, COBOL II is not Y2K ready
and never will be. ACCEPT ... FROM DATE only provides YY.
They do provide a called subroutine (dynamic) IGZEDT4 which will return
CCYY. The fact that COBOL II is not and never will be Y2K compliant,
is another area of disbelief and confusion.
In addition, many of the older versions of their supporting software
(and 3rd party products) are not Y2K ready and users need to contact
IBM or their vendors to get current before doomsday.
Again, make sure you bring documentation.
There are many other nooks and crannies of the Y2K problem.

Oh well, pay me now or pay me later (DV)?

Hmmmm... decades back, when I got my First Job, my sainted Mother, may
she sleep with the angels, gave me the following sage counsel:

'Then it comes to work remember two things: you can be wrong about
something... and be fired for it; you can be right about something...
and be fired for it.'

Perhaps you are related to her... what was your grannie's milkman's
name?

Serves me right for not checking my sources before posting.
On a contract at VISA a couple of years back we had gotten
the official word on 2000 as a non leap year from I believe the Navy.
The memory is the first to go ....

Oh, the Navy. That explains it. We who work on Air Force bases are
constantly fixing mistakes by the Army and Navy. Guess this is another
one we'll have to cover for them.

I hope this means you're backstopping them on the atomic clock. <G>
