Has anybody else run into the issue with Classmate (or perhaps ReportPro)
that Windows ignores the number of copies specified in the printer dialog
for 7 and 8? This works correctly on XP.

Thanks,

Ginny

PS Personally I think all reports should be limited to one copy if printed
out on paper, but that's just me not wanting to kill trees needlessly.

Hi, Ginny!
I can confirm the prob. I suppose that this problem is a driver problem. Some months ago My HP LaserJet 1300 suddenly started to ignore the number of copies on Win 7 even in MS Word (both 2007 & 2010) itself. At the same time HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 worked fine. Replacing the 1300 driver solved the issue.

I confirm that with the printer driver upgrade by Windoze 7, my older LJ3380 stopped paying attention to the number of copies, and only prints 1. This occurs in AutoCAD, I don't print duplicates in any other application.

Business needs may require 2 or more. If you recall, carbon paper was a big thing once, and laserjet and inkjet printers don't print through...

I agree with your sentiment. Computers were going to *save* paper. Of course, the paper they are saving is not printing encyclopedias, in lieu of Wikipedia.

Thanks to both of you. That does make sense. Oddly if I use print preview
rather than print, the number of copies is respected.

Using Crystal Reports we have also the problem that using certain printer
drivers the number of copies is ignored so that we had to insert a printing
loop instead. As said before there are different HP drivers affected. For me
it seems more the driver version than the Windows version the reason. Also
setting the magazine of the printer is often ignored.

Thanks, Arne. Makes perfect sense and especially where HP is concerned. ;)
