How easy is it to open a PDF and read the text from it?
We want to write some software to import the text from one.
Any libraries please?

There may be librarys/APIs available that would allow you to do that but
they wouldn't be written for VO.
Have you visited the ADOBE site to see what's available there for
developers.
There's a free PDF reader with source (probably 'C/C++' or Delphi) available
on sourceforge, not sure if contains what you need though. May even be more
than one.
Have a loook on knowvo for MDReport/MDPDF you might be able to adapt some of
that code.
MDPDF is what we used to create PDFs with Report Pro (I wrote wrappers for
both RP and MDPDF).
