I am developing an app which is intended to be sold to let us say 1000
users. It contains such functions as dialling, email, internet etc.

I want the ability to remove say dialling throughout the app depending on
whether a client has paid. I might even want to limit a group of reports.

However I would like to have the buttons there (if disabled) just to give
them a taster and encourage them to ask for more (pay for more I really
mean).

So far, all I can think of is that on every screen where the dialler button
appears, have code to say if ser no = xxxx then enable button. That is far
too messy.

The other alternative is to send the user an individual copy with the
template removed etc. Again a bit messy as the idea is to have the app
released via the internet.

Is there any template that could do this or has anyone any ideas. I do not
think a demo template would do the job as there might be many areas that
require disabling.

John,

Invest in G-REG (www.gitanosoftwre.com)
G-Reg is a security template that do what you want. There is a MODULES
field where you can specify what modules are available to the user.

I use it. its GREAT. VERY customizable too
I have caught several people trying to steal my software and converted those
thefts to sales!

SecWin from www.capesoft.com will handle both user registration AND
optional modules, as well as user login. They have templates for
conditionally disabling screens. As to disabling individual controls, you
may have to write your own code template to do that. It should be tiny,
though.

Hi John,
I have both G-REG and SecWin
G-Reg is great if you need to disable the functionality on a MODULE level
BUT if you need to control access to controls on the screen then you will
have to use SecWin. G-REG does not offer that level of granularity in terms
of controlling access to particular controls on the screen.

Both are very reasonably priced and worth every penny. If it wasn't for
G-REG I would not have been able to collect the $115,000 I have made in the
last year!
