A core language support header: what more (if anything) is crucial?

For the umpteenth time over, let's say 15 years, I started coding up
this core language support again, from scratch. The most important for
me is no doubt the Sys_char type, which needs language support to do
properly. I wrote an article about it in ACCU's Overload journal (the
August 2013 issue) but I think I forgot to discuss the language support
side of things. But also in here is some other stuff, such as support
for overloading on array reference versus pointer, and I wonder, what
other CORE LANGUAGE issues (if any) are you folks up against regularly,
where there are solutions suitable for inclusion in such a header?
As an experiment I'm just including the header as an attachment. After
all, in the old days we could just point out\r newsreaders at the
appropriate alt.* group and download Playboy's Playmate of the Month in
suitable attachment pieces, which the smart reader would recombine into
a full image. I even got Telenor in Norway to carry one such group (it
amazed my colleagues at two different jobs, lecturer and consultant),
but unfortunately the silly Playboy company sent threatening letters.
Anyway, I think as an attachment it may be easier to try out, but if
that doesn't work I'll just post the code inline in a follow-up.

Awesome -- another Doors fan. I love The Doors.

As I recall I've helped you out on many occasions, both technically and
otherwise.

You have helped me in the past. I think I've thanked
you for that. Now you are wallowing in the mire.
That's not helpful.

Brian, you likely mean that Alf wrote in his post something that
you do not like. That makes communicating with fundamentalists
(like you) very hard ... your position is totally indistinguishable
from parody of itself.
