Using an escape character does not seem to work.

One way to do it is to use single quotes around the entire expression

Made pointer restoration into a script instead of part of my macro
recorder, because it interferes with recording only one or two
lines for editing.
As noted in another post, figured out how to make window specific
scripts have priority over global scripts, by simply putting the
global scripts (below) at the bottom of the file.
