Hi,

I thought, that this would be a group
about the Beta programming language.

Is it?

to my best knowledge yes. However it seems Beta just "exists", but is
hardly used. Maybe they are all playing with the some new darling?

Yes. Unfortunately it appears that the BETA community is
rather small, mostly confined to a few areas in the Nordic
countries. It really does deserve a better following but
it's hard to compete against the strong commercial products
(C++, Java, Smalltalk, ...) in a tough jobs market (most
programmers need to earn their bread and butter and are
thus forced to concentrate on those inferior systems).

I believe Mjolner Informatics is concentrating further
development of its Mjolner System on a version that is
compatible with the Eclipse/.Net development environments.
Actually, Aahus University may now have overtaken full
responsibility for the development of the Mjolner System,
see
http://www.daimi.au.dk/~beta/
http://www.daimi.au.dk/~beta/mjolner_system/
for further details.
